Pavilions is an upscale grocery store chain in Southern California that operates as a banner of Albertsons Companies. Pavilions has a significant selection of organic food, wine, and other specialty foods.
Back in the mid-1980s, the United States was experiencing a new attitude toward the grocery store experience. Families tired of processed, unhealthy food began a movement for fresher, organic, and more nutritional options. Pavilions was one of the first stores to offer the healthy shopping choices the public craved.
The first Pavilions opened its doors in October of 1985 in Garden Grove, California. Pavilions was not just a reinvention in how grocery stores operate but a revelation to customers — alas, a store for them had truly arrived.
This first Pavilions’ opened with an abundance of offerings including live fish, a full-service butcher shop, bakery, tortilla shop, small pizza parlor, ice cream shop, delicatessen, florist, and pharmacy in their 55,000-square-foot site.
Today, Pavilions is one of the largest food and drug retailers nationwide, with 26 locations throughout Southern California.
